ABOUT Joe Jenkins, BA, MPhil

A successful and inspiring RS teacher for over 30 years, Joe has broadened his interests into wider consideration of Ethical and Philosophical issues. Author of the widely acclaimed seminal GCSE text books 'Contemporary Moral Issues' and 'Christianity' and the AS/A2 text 'Ethics & Religion' - published by Heinemann - Joe has lectured internationally on the delivery and impact of these subjects and is currently a teacher of Philosophy & Ethics at Hereford Sixth Form College and an Examiner for GCE Religious Studies.

Joe's filmmaking career started with the bringing together of images, music and the spoken word in his 'Beat the Border' Education Project in the 1990's introducing musicians from around the world into classrooms to explore cross cultural issues.

The success of this project demonstrated the power of film to command attention and generate debate in the classroom. This latest project therefore benefits from over 30 years of working directly with young people alongside the production of high quality, cutting edge teaching aids. To date, Joe's films have premiered at the Notting Hill Film Festival, the Milan Film Festival, the Borderlines Film Festival and the Strasbourg Film festival, where Contempt of Conscience received first prize.

Joe is also the co-author of a respected Biography of the philosopher-poet and mystic, Kahlil Gibran.
